Clusteriño

If you want to test a distributed object storage like Sheepdog-ng on real hardware, you need more servers/computers and that's problematic in terms of space, noise and energy consumption.
The key points in using Clusteriño are:

• it can easily fit on a desk
• it requires verly litte energy (about 20W for each node)
• it's fanless, so almost noisless

We ship Clusteriño already configure with latest sheepdog-ng release.
You only have to turn it on and it will work.

What are it's components?

• 4 Alix with amd apu
• 4 usb hard disks of 1T
• 1 switch 5 ports (2 recommended)
• 1 power strip

The total capacity is 4T and the available capacity it 2T. (You may want to change the redundancy level later).

Mind that Clusteriño is meant as a Development Kit, it's not for production use!
These are the reasons:

• each node has limited amount of ram (2G)
• cpu is not fast
• it writes on 5200rpm usb disk so it's slow. (There's ssd caching tough)
• you may want to get familiar with sheepdog-ng before using it in production

The storage solutions fits in Proxmox and VMware. You could also use the sheepdog solution as virtualization cluster solution. The recources are more than enough to test how sheepdog-ng works and run a couple of guests on each node.
